Pre School Life Skills

Pre School Life Skills

.The Preschool Life Skill curriculum is an approach to teach critical social skills to preschoolers. The Preschool Life Skills curriculum is used as part of The Learning Center curriculum for all of our 2-1/2 to 5-year old children. These skills are the same skills early elementary teachers have identified as being critical to early school success. The program is a class-wide approach to teaching 13 skills in sequence. The program may then be individualized for learners of different abilities. These Preschool Life skills were first taught in a study conducted by Dr. Gregory Hanley. Dr. Hanley is a Professor at Western New England University. His initial research showed a 400% increase in the observation of the occurrence of the critical social skills within the behavior of the children in the class. There was also a 70% reduction of problem behavior. The Learning Center uses this curriculum to help the children we serve meet their potential in the area of social development. Social development is a critical area that has a significant impact on the child’s success in the future.
