Helping Disabled Adults Live Their Fullest Lives

The Learning Center also offers developmental services for adults with disabilities.


A primary goal of this program is to teach these adults functional life skills needed for personal independence in caring for themselves and their environment and accessing the community. 


These skills include: 


  • Cooking
  • Laundering
  • Personal care
  • Socialization
  • Leisure activities
  • General knowledge of how to communicate needs and wants


Community-based integration is another vital part of these services. This program aims to deepen each individual's knowledge of their environment and show them how to participate and interact within that environment.

  • Transportation

    The Learning Center provides non-medical transportation services within the Jonesboro community and outside the Jonesboro City Limits as per fixed routes determined by the Transportation Supervisor and the Director of Services.

  • Meals

    We provide meals to all individuals enrolled in our program for over four hours daily.

  • Expenses

    We provide services to eligible developmentally disabled individuals through Medicaid, State Funds, Title XX Funds, and donations. Families and participants do not pay for our services.

  • Basic life skills

    Skills we teach include:


    • Grooming 
    • Laundry 
    • Housekeeping 
    • Understanding basic nutrition needs
    • Kitchen safety
    • Exercise
    • Recreation and leisure activities
    • Improving personal and social skills
    • Money skills
    • Knowledge of functional signs and symbols
    • Improving communication skills
    • Use of a computer
    • Basic health and safety issues
    • Environmental issues

Life Skills for Developmentally Disabled Adults

The Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas, Inc also offers a daytime treatment program for adults with developmental disabilities. This program is designed for adults 18 years and older and offers:


  • Activities of daily living skills
  • Basic life skills
  • Social inclusion 
  • Community outings
  • On-site nursing
  • A food program offering breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • Transportation assistance
